Default Digital Graffiti

Hi everyone,

Im a Creativity and Computing student in london and in need of some information and help. For my final year project(Dissertation/Thesis, what ever you want to call it) i am currently researching digital graffiti, what has already been developed, what's being developed, different techniques/styles, equipment, methodology, moral, impact, reasoning ...etc

The idea and inspiration behind my project(ImageMania) steams from my dislike of overly complex imaging packages that require a great knowledge or understanding of images or previous knowledge of imaging tools/packages to fully make use of said tools. From my understanding many software’s lack a specific target audience and therefore do not gear the tools offered by their product to a certain profession or culture, rather their product is another mainstream software that differs from others by their branding logo and their non-descript aesthetic out-look. If a paint package has a target audience then there is a need to specialise their tools rather than generalise. Thus I believe the main key areas to consider being who my project's(ImageMania’s) target audience is? and the effectiveness and efficiency of its interface.

There are many previous paint packages that offer a wide selection of tools geared towards any type of user. This is not what ImageMania is or offers. ImageMania is targeted at digital graffiti artists who have a need for a form of expression outside of the norm. The idea of ImageMania is having a level of control over an image and to be able to mould it to suite your own needs and desires. In essence this is to customise/create/develop and make it your own.

One could interpret ImageMania as a pre-visualisation package were the artist would import (background textures, colours, light, shadow, overlay ...etc) what they want and implement their graffiti digital domain before perhaps doing something in real life.

I would like your input on what specific tools or techniques you would like in a graffiti package(overlay, transparency effects, layers ...etc).

Actually any input would be appreciated even if you think this is a waste of time.
