I can level with dread.( As much as I love hip hop) I dig alt rock and some metal, or industrial...whatever you wanna call it , and that doesn't mean I'm any less of a writer because of it. Music is to each their own, some people can't stand listening to the verses because it's so depressing, for others they see it more as a way for someone else to relate to the way they're feeling, aka the music.
Personally I just like what I like because of the noise. It's good noise. I like it, and I don't think it's a big issue about what you like. Graffiti means freedom of expression, and music ties in with that.
PS: Brap, sad music doesn't only mean the emo bands do it. rap and hip hop talk do it too.
